Transition: Creating a Career Exploration Curriculum

Categories:
CRC, VAP
Clock Hours/Domains:
6.00
Description:
Current opinion holds that the average number of jobs held in one’s lifetime will be 7 or greater. If the transitioning student can choose early jobs based on meaningful criteria, the career path will have increased meaning for that individual. Designed in response to CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) concerns about students' transitions and fueled by the focus that WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) brings to encourage group work and Pre-Employment Services, this course is based on an optimal existing curriculum for student career exploration with a clear understanding of next steps when the real work begins. Analyze the elements associated with creating a sustainable career exploration workshop curriculum as you create a plan for your own transition curriculum; learn how to expand a successful group approach to multiple groups and/or multiple schools; reflect on how school schedules may result in meeting outside the normal school day; and receive advice for working with the student who may never find meaningful employment. Earn 6 CRCC pre-approved CE clock hours toward CRC or CVE renewal.
